Postcard Project Introduction |
||
|
Six months ago, I discovered the Internet Photographic Handmade Postcard Trading List, a list of photographers and artists willing to send each other samples of their work. After receiving and sending a a few postcards, I wanted a dialog with other photographers - a way to create a community for the exchange of ideas though images. This project is my way of reaching out to create that "visual dialog" through the photographic postcard process. In creating photographic postcards, most people will take one image and reproduce it multiple times. I set out to create approximately 400 unique photograms to send to each of the roughly 300 people on the postcard trading list - an individual unique image for each unique individual. Each postcard takes its title from the name and the address of the person to whom the postcard was sent. The Images These images are not to be overly elaborate or sophisticated. The pictures are a simple hello to my fellow photographers. The postcards themselves are photograms, images made by placing opaque or semi-opaque objects on top of photopaper, then exposed underneath an enlarger. Participation If anyone would like to participate in this project please send me handmade postcard to the address below. With the sender's express permission, I would like to post the reply on this website. Daiuske Nakabayashi |
